Best viral marketing examples
If you're still not sure what viral marketing is, then some examples may help clarify what can be achieved.

Threshers '40% discount' voucher
Back in 2006, Threshers the wine store sent out some discount vouchers to a 'selection' of people via email offering a big discount at their stores. Within a few days the chain was swamped with customers waving their vouchers in the air to claim their discounts. Although the campaign wasn't intended to get as big as it did, it lead to a huge increase in sales and as a result has been run several times since. The viral marketing happened because of the great deals on offer and the human instinct to share something beneficial with friends and family.

Nike 'Touch of Gold'
The Ronaldinho / Nike Touch of Gold campaign is one of the most viewed viral campaigns created. The campaign centres around the incredible skills of Ronaldinho, one of the world's most talented footballers. His skills were so incredible that he could, according to the video created, hit the cross bar from 20 yards seemingly at will. You had to see it to believe it and due to its clever editing, millions did, earning Nike worldwide exposure with minimal effort or cost.

'Will it blend?'
Our favourite viral marketing campaign. If you haven't seen it already, the 'Will it blend' series had one aim; to promote the Blendtec blenders. Promote it did but not in the traditional way. The Blendtec team put the blender to the challenge by blending a variety of objects from golf balls to iPhones. The campaign had so much success it was nominated for dozens of awards and lead to companies PAYING to have their objects put to the blender. And the blender sales? Well as you'd expect they went through the roof across the globe.
