Simple Tips Against Hackers

Internet security and protection against hackers is a serious problem for many organisations and Internet users. A BBC investigation into net-based attacks on Windows PCs found they could happen as often as every 12-15 minutes. With this well know threat, why is it that so many users still do not put safeguards in place to protect themselves. Follow these simple steps to reduce your threat of being hacked.

Internet security is a large scale problem but there a number of simple measures that the "average" computer user can put in place to remove many of those threats and get online safely. Below are some DO's, DONT's and links to useful resources to help you stay safe while online.
DO
- Install anti-virus software (such as Norton Anti-Virus or Kaspersky)
- Install a personal firewall
- Use updates to patch security holes
DONT
- Open suspicious emails
- Click on unexpected attachments
- Click on emailed links to banking websites
